About Calder
Technology should produce practical value
Calder is a commercial technology company based in Kenya. We help organisations make more from what they already have: their assets, their customer relationships and the way they work.
Why we exist
Too much business technology is bought because it sounds modern, then left half used because nobody connected it to how the business earns money or serves customers. We think that is a waste of capital and of goodwill.
We take a different approach. We examine the business problem, identify the commercial opportunity, design the solution, implement the technology and, where agreed, help manage and improve it. The measure of our work is whether the organisation is better off.
We are based in Kenya and work with organisations across East Africa and further afield where we can serve them properly. We do not claim offices or operations where we have not established them.
What we believe
Business comes before technology
We would rather understand your operation for a week than build the wrong system in a month.
Honesty is commercially useful
Telling a client that an idea will not pay back is part of the job.
Outcomes should be measurable
If we cannot describe how we will know a system has worked, the design is not finished.
Responsibility does not transfer to software
Systems and AI support people. They do not take over their judgement or their obligations.
